I believe in what this district can be and I have an obligation to hope for a better future.

LGBTQ+ Rights: From what I have seen and experienced in the district firsthand, there has been great success when students have been encouraged to be respectful, open minded and curious. We need to guide students' social development by focusing on acceptance and exploring scenarios in which people that are different from each other are able to thrive in the same communities. I believe deeply in the right to self expression and the people have the right to love who they love. Protect Undocumented Students: Public school is a child's first experience in a community outside their family. It should foster fellowship around the common goal of learning. I believe that all students should feel safe no matter their background. We are building good citizens, not just tomorrow's workforce. We know that diversity is what makes this country the greatest country in the world.

Collective Bargaining: One of the reasons that I have felt called to this space is to defend our democracy. Collective Bargaining is democracy in action. It's messy and creative, takes a lot of listening and requires a collective voice to achieve desired outcomes for a majority. Public funds for public schools: We are striving to live in one of the best, most healthy communities in the USA. We must ensure that public dollars fund public schools. Investing in public good is the means to a healthy community. The way to equity for our students is through balanced determination of these funds. Transparency is key to funding access. When we communicate success, we show where dollars are working. When we communicate data that displays need, we illuminate spaces that require resources. The district community has a right to know, understand and have access to this information so that they can provide knowledgeable input in decision making circles. This will foster trust and produce better outcomes for all. Charter Schools: Charter Schools have been legal in Colorado for over 30 years. If they are funded publicly, they should be held to the same standards and oversight as publicly funded schools. My goals include making public schools attractive for our students with robust programming in STEAM (Science, Technology, English, Arts, Math) to provide quality opportunities to diverse populations. School Closures: In order to thrive, communities must remain nimble and unpopular ideas for some may benefit the whole. I plan to listen to recommendations with an open mind and communicate with families and experts to achieve balanced decisions. Students with Disabilities: Equitable access to education means meeting every child where they are. I am encouraged by the passage of a recent policy Colorado Senate Bill 25-200 (expanding on the Colorado READ Act) to screen every student from kindergarten to third grade for dyslexia starting school year 2027-2028. As we collect data like this, it will pave the way for more aggressive action to address needs and provide solutions so that every student thrives at PSD. Banning Books: No.
